“Each time we open a season, it’s a film tribute,” McLendon-Covey stated throughout a panel on the Tv Critics Affiliation press tour. “We’re doing one which takes us on the journey of the place to unfold Pops’ ashes. It’s hysterically humorous, and also you’ll cry your eyes out. Sean Giambrone and I might barely get by means of filming.”
She added that “we’ll be mentioning George so much this season.”
Segal appeared in additional than 160 of The Goldbergs‘ 185 episodes over its first eight seasons, enjoying the advice-dispensing, up-for-anything grandfather to Adam (Giambrone), Barry (Troy Gentile) and Erica (Hayley Orrantia). Collection creator Adam F. Goldberg wrote after Segal’s dying that “It was a real honor being a small a part of George Segal’s superb legacy. By pure destiny, I ended up casting the right individual to play Pops. Identical to my grandfather, George was a child at coronary heart with a magical spark.”
